Apologies for the radio silence of late… As busy musos sometimes life/music takes over & everything else falls by the wayside!!
BUT, do not fear we are back, it’s summer (our favourite time of year here at the beach!) and that means it’s WEDDING SEASON! We ukuladies love a wedding & it’s a real pleasure that performing as part of a couples’ special day is a big part of our job!
Back in May we journeyed to The Wirral to provide the music for a stunning wedding at Thornton Manor. The lakeside setting was exquisite & the bride dazzled in her 50s inspired gown.
Instead of the traditional hymns we lead the congregation in sing-a-long renditions of Wouldn’t It Be Nice by The Beach Boys & Love Me Do by The Beatles. A magical, joyous moments where the songs were sung with gusto instead of the usual mumbled, organ-lead renditions.
We then headed over to the lawn to entertain the guests while they sipped pink lemonade, ate marshmallow tea cakes & basked in the sunshine. A truly beautiful day! Congratulations to the gorgeous Christabel & Mark!
As we were a long way from Dorset in the cold North 😉 we decided to make a long weekend of it & set off for Liverpool. As we are both big Beatles fans we made the most of being in their birth place & did all of the touristy bits & pieces! Had a boogie & a beer in The Cavern, wandered around The Beatles’ Story & spent way too much money in the gift shop (buying gifts for ourselves!!) Truly geeky but so.much.fun.
This weekend we were back in our Wedding Wagon journeying up the M5 to Gloucester to play at the celebrations of Laura & Chris’ wedding at the beautiful Tithe Barn in Brockworth.
We provided yet another combination of sets – an “early years” set on the lawn during canapés & photographs (feat. songs such as Fly Me To The Moon, Dream A Little Dream & Ain’t She Sweet). Then a more upbeat, modern set later in the evening once the gin was flowing!!
Once the tasty afternoon tea had been served we gathered around the hay bails & started something of a ukulele jam. We had takers of all ages, even the beautiful bride Laura got involved (she was especially fond of the C chord…. I can’t think why!!) 😆
The whole day was marvellous, lovely guests, happy faces & a stunning setting.
Our job is rather lovely really.
Have not seen your website before, totally love it! Such an enjoyable read, great pics and love the very talented videos! Will revisit again soon 😊
Ah thanks Sam! We love doing it all. Hope to see you soon x
